In the third game of ongoing Pro Kabaddi 2018-19, Puneri Paltans emerged on top beating Haryana Steelers with ease. After a spirited show versus U Mumba, wherein Paltans held them to a draw, they edged past Haryana by 34-22 points. With a 12 points gap, Paltans clearly dominated the proceedings and now have four points from two encounters. They earned a point after a draw in their opening encounter, and now attain three full points with their maiden victory of the sixth edition.
Puneri Paltans’ skipper, Girish Ernak, won the toss and chose the court in the opening game of the second day’s play. The start was neck-to-neck and Haryana had a lead of 6-5 in the initial stages (Vikas Khandola won them their first point). However, things started to take a U-turn before the first half.
Paltans’ star Nitin Tomar gave his side a crucial point and a six-point lead heading into the first half of the game. Nitin was in sublime form as a raider and looked proactive from the word go.
The script started to go in favour of Paltans as they stretched their lead after the break. Deepak Dahiya ran back with a hand touch and the scoreline read 16-9 in favour of the Paltans. Few minutes later, Nitin was stretched off the court with injury and things didn’t look good for his side despite the lead. Nonetheless, Nitin’s fitness needs to be credited as he came back within few minutes and won his side two crucial points. With pressure mounting, Kandola and Surender Nada failed to respond and returned empty handed or with injury. As a result, Paltans’ continued to lead and Haryana’s body language showed their fate. A wide gap, 34-22, became the eventual result of the match.
