Mumbai Maharathis outplayed Haryana Hammers in a thrilling encounter of the Pro Wrestling League Season 4, Day 11 in Greater Noida.
The first match of the evening saw Harphool Gulia of Mumbai Maharathis take on Rajneesh of Haryana Hammers in the 65 kg Men’s bout. The former opened the account for the Maharathis in a closely fought bout with a scoreline of 5-2.
Making a comeback with the second bout of the evening the Haryana Hammers’ Tatyana Omelchenko dominated Maharathi’s Shilpi Yadav and won the bout easily at 16-0.
Haryana’s most dependable wrestler Ali Shabanov did not disappoint his team as well as fans as he eked out a narrow win against Deepak Punia of Mumbai Maharathis with a 4-3 scoreline in the 3rd bout of the evening.
Making a terrific comeback in the second round of the bout Mumbai Maharathi’s Zseneth Nemeth thrashed Kiran of Haryana Hammers 6-4 in the 76 Kg Women’s category. The Indian was leading 4-2 after the first round but could not sustain the pressure from Nemeth.
The see-saw battle, which was evident throughout the evening, saw Maharathi’s Baitseev sneak past Haryana Hammer’s Aleksander 6-2 in a comeback win.
The second last bout of the evening, which was the most anticipated bout of the evening too, saw Asian Games Gold Medal winner Mumbai Maharathi’s Vinesh Phogat thrashing her Haryana Hammer’s counterpart 12-2 in a one-sided bout. The outcome of the bout meant the Maharathis pocket home the fixture with a 4-2 overall score.
Though the last bout of the fixture would not have affected the overall score of the tie, but it had no dearth of thrill where Haryana Hammer's Ravi Kumar came back to clinch the bout 13-9 in his favor. The fixture thus ended 4-3 in Mumbai's favor.
