Italian club AS Roma has confirmed the arrival of Paulo Fonseca as their new head coach on a two-year contract. The 46-year-old Portuguese joins from Shakhtar Donetsk, where he won the Ukrainian league and cup double in all his three seasons.
Fonseca had earlier managed Porto, Braga and Pacos Ferreira in his native country. He will replace Claudio Ranieri at the Italian capital and will look to guide Roma back into the Champions League, having finished sixth last season.
Paulo Fonseca: “I am excited and motivated by the task ahead of us. I cannot wait to move to Rome, meet our fans and get started.
