Former BarcelonafootballerJordi Cruyff has send a note of warning to the Catalan club regarding Lionel Messi concerning how Real Madrid's form declined after Cristiano Ronaldo left the club.According to the Dutch man, Barcelona must learn from the fatal mistakes made by Real Madrid.
"What happened to Real Madrid is a warning for Barcelona. In football, you need players who can keep the team calm even though they are losing 0-2," Cruyff said on Wednesday.
"The character is in Ronaldo and Messi. It's more than football, it's about trust," Cruyff added.
Cruyff claimed he failed to understand the reason how Real Madrid dared to release Ronaldo, who was the backbone of the team.
Ronaldo, has scored 12 goals and assisted seven for Juventus, who will face Atletico Madrid in Champions League knockouts and lead the Serie A table by eight points.
"You can see Real Madrid without Ronaldo at the moment. Ronaldo is the player in charge of holding the umbrella," Cruyff said.
"When it rains, you definitely need an umbrella. Now, Real Madrid has been soaked because they no longer have umbrellas," he said.
After joining Juventus, Ronaldo presented a challenge for Messi. Ronaldo wants Messi out of his comfort zone and move to Italy.
Until now, Messi still has not responded to Ronaldo's challenge. The possibility of Messi to leave Barcelona in the near future can be considered very small.
Besides being still in possession of a contract until 2021, Messi has vowed to play for Barcelona during his career in Europe.
The 31year-old player plans to retire in his hometown, Argentina. Messi wants to hang his bootswith his childhood team, Newell's Old Boys.
Lionel Messi is currently enjoying a good season scoring 21 goals in just 20 games in all competitions for Barcelona.
