India’s ace women’s badminton player Saina Nehwal shared not so pleasant news for the fans last evening. Nehwal informed that she was suffering from an acute stomach pain throughout All England tournament and is to be hospitalized for the same reason. This consequently means that she will miss the Swiss Open 2019 for the same. Saina, has earlier been a champion at the Swiss Open in the year 2011, 2012.
The doctors said that the 31-year-old is suffering from Acute Gastroenteritis with mild pancreatitis. The badminton ace took to Twitter and wrote, “So some sad news .. was really going through acute stomach pain from last Monday.. managed to play few matches in All England with lot of pain ... and decided to skip Swiss open and come back to India and find out the issue and I found out it’s Acute Gastroenteritis with mild pancreatitis and the doctors have recommended me to get admitted and hopefully I recover soon out of it.”

Saina has had a decent run at the court post her marriage with Paruppalli Kashyap and as such rang the new year with better performances than the last year. Saina first made a semi final appearance at the Malaysia Masters and then went on to take the Indonesia Masters title after Carolina Marin withdrew midway through the final match owing to an injury sustained during the match. Though, the Hyderabad based shuttler had a yet another unsatisfactory outing against her bête noire Tai Tzu Ying at the All England Open Championship who stopped her bandwagon at the quarterfinals.
