It was the much-anticipated Women’s 65 kg final but Rio Olympics Bronze medalist Sakshi Malik couldn’t sustain the ascendancy she enjoyed during the quarterfinals and semifinals and succumbed to the onslaught from Sweden’s Henna Johansson to settle for a Silver medal at the ongoing Dan Kolov Nikola Petrov Ranking Series at Ruse, Bulgaria.
The Indian began the final after she opened the scoring with a one point push out to her opponent but conceded a 4 point takedown before being down 1-6 at the half time.
After the resumption too, she conceded another 2 point takedown from the Swede which left her trailing 1-8. With more than a minute to spare the Indian did claw back with a 2 point takedown but that was that as she could not inflict any harm to the Swede further during the bout.
Earlier, Sakshi had stunned the World champion Petra Olli in the semifinals with a 4-1 convincing win.
