Bangladesh’s star All rounder – Shakib al Hasan will be missing out on the final game of the Asia cup against defending champions India, in smees to be a big blow for the ‘Bangla Tigers.’
Shakib was already riding through the pain in the campaign due to his long standing finger injury. But according Bangladesh Cricket Board’s operation chairman – Akram Khan, Shakib had no other choice but to fly back home and recover as the pain was now unbearable.
“He will be out for four to six weeks. The pain had increased over the last few days and the physio [Thihan Chandramohan] tried his best to get him on the field, but the pain was too much. I would like to thank Shakib for playing [the first four matches] with the pain he had,” Khan said.
Team manager Khaled Mahmud was concerned about the 31 year olds condition, since there is a strong possibility of him missing out the series against Zimbabwe as well.
“A decision regarding his operation will be taken once he reaches Dhaka. The problem is that his finger is getting sore and that is extremely difficult for someone to carry on and play.”
Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 37 runs on Wednesday to cement a place in the final of the Asia Cup.
