The Delhi Capitals, who were earlier known as Delhi Daredevils, have recently announced the arrival of former Indian captain – Sourav Ganguly as the advisor for the franchise in the forthcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which starts on March 23.
Defending champions – Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be squaring off against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the season opener at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The Delhi side haven’t enjoyed much success in the high prestige league, with their highest finish being in the play offs, while never making it to the finals.
Sourav Ganguly had captained the Kolkata Knight Riders in the first season of the IPL in 2008. He was an active part for the KKR side till 2012, while it was Gautam Gambhir who took the baton of leading KKR from there onwards.
Earlier, Delhi Daredevils had appointed Mohammad Kaif as the assistant coach for the 2019 season. Both former Indian players will be accompanying Ricky Ponting who’s the head coach of Delhi Capitals.
With a new name, new jersey, new players, and new sets of coaches the Delhi side will be looking to make this year a memorable one in the most watched cricket league in the world.
