Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has always been a force of nature. He is famous to raise his voice for a good cause and always comes forward to help the people who are in need. And now he has gone one step forward to help the Transgender community and gave a tribute to their community by attending the inauguration of the seventh edition of Hijra Habba in New Delhi.
During the event, he did something that would have made some people uncomfortable but made the Transgender community really happy. During the event, he was made to dress like one of them and Gambhir did not even give a second thought to that.
Hijra Habba is an event where Transgenders united to celebrate and empower their community by giving great speeches
At the event, there was also an exhibition which told people about the Trans culture and their gods and how gender-specific symbols such as bindi and moustache can affect one’s behaviour. Here, like a great sport, Gambhir also participated by wearing a dupatta and a bindi.
To some of you, this may feel like an awkward scene, but what he did was actually one of the most remarkable things a man could have done for the Trans community. When almost everybody tends to put the whole Transgender community down, here is a celebrity who has come forward to support them and tell them you are not alone, you are one of us.
He has always been like that. On the field, he was quite fearless. He did what he wanted to, played like a tiger and was never afraid to show his aggression to the opposition.
It is not always about being a man or a woman, it is all about being a HUMAN. As a nation, we cannot move forward without involving anyone. They took birth in this nation and they are as Indians as we all are. This is what he said during the event and it shows how great he truly is.
His photos, dressed in bindi and a dupatta, received great appreciation from everywhere for this inclusive gesture.
This is not the first time Gambhir has been so supportive of the Trans community, last month, he uploaded photographs with two Transgender women tying rakhis on his wrist on Instagram.
All in all, he is one of the most humble person the game of cricket has ever seen and the people of Trans community will never be able to forget this moment and this gesture for a very long time.
