The Sports Authority of India (SAI) will conduct Sports and Selection trials for the aspiring athletes under its SAI Training Centres Scheme (STC) and Centre of Excellence Scheme (COE) in various Individual and team events. The trials for various age groups will be held from January 16-18 at Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education (LNCPE), Kariavattom, Kerala.
Trials would be conducted for boys and girls in Swimming, Taekwondo, Volleyball, while only girls can participate in Boxing, Handball, and Kabaddi.
For the trials conducted under STC scheme in individual events, the age category for boys and girls is between 12 and 18 years and for team events, the athletes must be between 10 and 18 years. For COE scheme in team events, the athletes must not be younger than 12 years and older than 25 years.
Sportspersons who have already participated in district and State-level competitions can apply for the STC scheme. However, preference will be given to those who have won medals in State and National competitions.
Boys and girls aged between 12 and 25, who have secured fourth place in sub-junior, junior, youth and senior level in athletics, volleyball, and Taekwondo, can apply for Centre of Excellence (COE) scheme.
In volleyball, preference will be given to those who are more than 170/185cms in height, whereas, in taekwondo and boxing, athletes will be preferred on the basis of right proportion between weight and height.
All the athletes who wish to take part in the trials must report at Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education (LNCPE), Kariavattom, Kerala with copies of birth, merit, medical, Aadhar, ration cards and four passport size photographs. For details, contact 04712415401.
