Premier League club Swansea City’s manager Carlos Carvalhal has revealed that club’s captain Angel Rangel is likely to undergo surgery for an abductor muscle injury and could miss many matches of the club.
The 35-year-old right back has appeared in only three Premier League games for Swansea this season and his last match was against Tottenham Hotspur where his team suffered a 2-0 defeat last month.
After sustaining the injury, the defender joined midfielders Renato Sanches and Leroy Fer apart from striker Wilfried Bony on the injury list, where both Fer and Bony have been ruled out for the rest of the season.
“It is possible Angel will need surgery,” Carvalhal said, adding that midfielder Leon Britton is also struggling with the same muscle problem. “Leon will have an injection and he will soon be training with us, but Angel will be longer,” Carvalhal added.
Currently, Swansea City are on the 17th position in the Premier League table rankings and they will face seventh-placed Burnley in the league on Saturday.
