India's men's doubles pair, Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, lost the Syed Modi Championship in the said category courtesy defeat versus Indonesia's Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto in the final courtesy an 11-21, 20-22 scoreline. With this result, Satwiksairaj and Chirag continue to trail behind the Indonesian pair 2-0 in a head-to-head tally.
The first game started at a close level. It was after 4-4 from where Fajar-Muhammad stormed past their opposition in style. In a flash, they were 10-6 ahead and further consolidated it to 15-9. Chirag and Satwiksairaj were off colors and paid the price to concede the opening game without posing much threat; 11-21.
The Indians eradicated their flaws and lifted their play to lead in the second game. Chirag and Satwiksairaj were sitting pretty at 6-1 before the Indonesian duo leveled scores at 10-10. From thereon, both the pairs gave a fitting contest on the court. Chirag-Satwiksairaj, however, lost the plot in the crucial moments and lost the game, and match, 20-22. From 20-17 up, they went down 20-22. Their complacency resulted in a change in momentum.
