After several speculations about the prestigious Indian Premier League being held in an overseas nation, the cash rich league isn’t going anywhere for its twelfth edition as the Honorable Supreme Court of India held a meeting with the appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) in New Delhi on Tuesday and came up with a decision to host the tournament in India itself.
Since the general elections are on course, which starts on April this year, quite a few cricket fans thought that the tournament might be partially divided into two halves like it was back in 2014, with the initial stages of the IPL hosted in Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi.
But UAE was the second destination for the league to be held there, as it had earlier been to South Africa in the year 2009 due to the general elections of that particular time.
Another factor which lead to a revised schedule of the most watched league in the world was due to the ICC Cricket World Cup edging ever so close. Had the IPL schedule not changed, then the number of days the players would have got after the tournament would have ended, could have been of just ten days, before they headed to the world event.
It is proposed that the VIVO IPL 2019 will commence on March 23, 2019. The detailed schedule will be finalized in consultation with the appropriate authorities.
The COA will then have detailed discussion with all the Stakeholders before releasing the VIVO IPL 2019 Schedule.
