Gianluigi Buffon completed a sensational return to Serie A champions Juventus, after having left Paris Saint-Germain. The legendary 41-year-old goalkeeper has signed a one-year contract. Buffon had earlier spent 17 years at Turin, winning nine league titles but had failed to win the Champions League.
Frank Lampard returned to his beloved home Chelsea, this time in the capacity of a manager. Lampard, who is Chelsea’s all-time highest goal-scorer, has signed a three-year contract. He will replace Maurizio Sarri and will try to help the London giants challenge for the Premier League title.
Meanwhile, Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera has swapped Manchester United for Paris Saint-Germain. He arrives in Paris for free on a five-year contract, having spent five seasons in Manchester. PSG has also brought in Spanish winger Pablo Sarabia from Sevilla, to finally kick start their summer spending.
French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has joined Tottenham from Ligue 1 outfit Lyon for a club record £55 million (INR 4.72 billion approx). The 22-year-old was the target for various clubs in the transfer market but has now opted to join the Champions League runners-up.
Premier League champions Manchester City has completed their club record signing in the form of Spanish midfielder Rodri from Atletico Madrid. He has penned a five-year deal with the Pep Guardiola managed outfit.
Atletico Madrid has moved quickly to secure the replacement of Rodri. They have roped in Portuguese teenage sensation Joao Felix from Portuguese champions Benfica. 19-year-old Felix has signed a seven-year contract for €126 million (INR 9.7 billion approx.), which is the fourth highest transfer fee in football history.
