Former world tennis champion Serena Williams suffered a straight set defeat against sister Venus Williams and ended her winning comeback in the third round of Indian Wells Masters in California on Tuesday.
The 37-year-old Venus totally outclassed the 23-time Grand Slam winner as she finished the match in around one and half hour with a score 6-3 6-4 and entered the round four of the tournament in style.
"I'm just lucky that I've played more matches than her right now,'' Venus said in a post-match on-court interview. "She just came roaring back. I had chances for the match to be over, but it wasn't.''
"I definitely know her well, but she definitely played a little bit better than she normally does,'' Serena said. "She served very consistently. She just did everything great.''
Venus will next face Anastasija Sevastova from Latvia who also completed a straight set win against German tennis player Julia Gorges 6-3 6-3 on Tuesday.
