India’s golden girl Vinesh Phogat who went for gold in the Asian Games of 2018 and carried her family tradition in style had a lot more to be happy about as she got engaged to wrestler Somvir Rathee as she returned to India.
The two athletes exchanged rings near the arrival gate of Delhi airport on Monday night.
Phogat’s fiancé congratulated the wrestler after she became the first Indian woman to win a gold in wrestling at the Asian Games.
“I know how much hard work has come before this victory. Whatever she is today is because of her hardwork and the entire nation’s faith and love for her, without which this would not have been possible. Please keep giving your love and faith always. Every Indian is proud of you always and I pray you will continue to make the nation proud in the future as well,” Rathee expressed on social media.
Somvir Rathee just like Vinesh is also a Greco Roman wrestler. The two have known each other for the last seven years. She had earlier posted a picture of herself with Somveer on a social networking site with a caption: "The best decision I ever made! Glad you pinned me for life."
