The 2019 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is just around the corner and all the franchises have started to do their preparations for the star-studded Twenty20 event.
The franchise of Rajasthan Royals has gone through a lot of changes, be it in the management or be it on the jersey that they will be wearing this year.
Australian legend Shane Warne, who has been a part of Rajasthan Royals since the first edition of India’s cash-rich league, has predicted that young Sanju Samson will emerge as the standout performer for the team in the upcoming season of IPL and could become the ‘Player of the Tournament’ in 2019.
The Australian legend posted a photo of himself in the Royals’ jersey and captioned the snap as, “Great to be back in Mumbai and in the pink for Rajasthan Royals as brand ambassador. Exciting times as there are only 2 weeks to go till our 1st game. I believe with the squad the boys have put together – we are favorites to win the #IPL this year – so get on the boys in Pink! Plus I also think that Sanju Samson will be the player of the tournament! Agree followers?”
It is not surprising that Warne has backed the young batting sensation considering the experience that Samson has. The batsman has amassed a total of 1867 runs at an average of 26.67 in 81 matches. He also has a century to his name and 10 half-centuries in the league.
Warne added, “I am very happy to be back with the Royals and I am grateful to the team and the fans for their constant support. It was important for us to retain our established values but at the same time develop a new and modern identity. I am already in love with the new look of the team and hope the fans will love it too.”
The franchise, led by Ajinkya Rahane, will start their IPL campaign against Kings XI Punjab on March 25.
