If there’s one thing that NBA fans will never have to worry about, it’s the shortage of character on the court. In many sports, players only get a small window of opportunity to add some personal flair with a celebration. In football, goals bring a rare, though impressive sight; in cricket too, wickets, centuries, half-centuries warrant a celebration. But basketball capitalizes on every occasion imaginable.
Pregame rituals, bench antics, clutch shots, nasty defense and everything in between warrant so much more than a fist pump. Perhaps more than any other sport, swag has hit the NBA circuit head-on, especially in the past decade or so. Having been firmly entrenched in the NBA culture for quite a while now, swag has not only been institutionalized, in many ways, it’s been immortalized.
Whether these expressions of victory are recurrent rituals or a result of one, dramatic moment is irrelevant. It certainly adds to the entertainment and the x-factor.
NBA India’s twitter handle released a Best of the season celebration video which featured the likes Russel Westbrook, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Lebron James, Tyson Chandler, Stephen Curry, Jonas Jerebko, and Bogdan Bogdanovic.
