In an unexpected turn of events at one of WWE's most highly anticipated main events, Hell in a Cell, foes turned friends as Sami Zayn helped Kevin Owens to fight back from a precarious position to win against Shane McMahon. Zayn returned to help his old friend Kevin Owens secure an improbable win over Shane McMahon, even as Shane delighted the crowd by jumping off the steel cage yet again.
WWE Champion Jinder Mahal retained his title by defeating Shinsuke Nakamura, aided by the Singh brothers and a knee injury to the challenger. Natalya also managed to retain her women's title despite losing to Charlotte because the match ended in disqualification.
There were a couple of title changes as well, as The Usos became five time tag team champions with a win over the New Day, while Baron Corbin secured his first title as he stood victorious in a triple threat match involving himself, Tye Dillinger, and US champion AJ Styles.
The night began with an impressive win by Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin as they defeated the Hype Bros.
