The 'Monstrous Main Event' on Monday Night Raw ended in disqualification as both Braun Strowman and Kane battled it out to be the number one contender for Brock Lesnar's Universal Championship.
Both men ended up getting counted out after knocking each other unconscious outside the ring, but the two giants continued to trade blows after the bell had rung. Their confrontation is far from over, and both are likely to battle again soon before Royal Rumble rolls around.
There was also joy for two out of three Shield members, as Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns picked up wins over tag team champions Sheamus and Cesaro in individual matches. Reigns defended his Intercontinental title against the Swiss Cyborg. His team mate Rollins overcame the Celtic Warrior Sheamus, battling for most of the encounter on just one leg after Sheamus focused on the Architect's left leg.
The show had started with Samoa Joe calling out Reigns for a showdown after weeks of tension, only for Sheamus and Cesaro to ambush him. Even though Rollins and Dean Ambrose came to his aid, the numbers game proved too strong for The Shield. Ambrose would later face Joe in one on one competition, only to be forced into submission by Joe's patented Coquina Clutch. It was unfortunate for Ambrose, who had pinned Joe unbeknownst to the referee, who was distracted by Jason Jordan, another wrestler who has issues with Joe.
In the women's division, Paige and Mandy Rose won their match against Bayley and Mickie James with Sasha Banks at ringside, but soon found themselves in unfamiliar territory when the entire women's division united to take down The Absolution. They attacked Alicia Fox backstage, who was supposed to take on Asuka in a one-on-one contest, and after weeks of teasing a showdown, finally came after the 'Empress of Tomorrow'. That is when the entire women's locker room came running out and threw Absolution at the receiving end of their own treatment.
Finn Balor hardly broke a sweat to dispose of Curtis Axel, while 'woken' Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt continued their war of words. In the cruiserweight division, Cedric Alexander defeat Mustafa Ali, Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari in a bloody impressive "Second Chance" Fatal 4-Way Match to determine the No. 1 contender for Enzo Amore's Cruiserweight title.
