Nathan Astle was born on the 15th of September 1971 in Christchurch (New Zealand). Astle got his first chance to play for his country in 1995 following a series of good performances in the domestic circuit. In the same year, he made his ODI debut against West Indies while he played his first Test match against Zimbabwe in 1996. But he didn’t perform well in his debut matches. The stylish batsman then bounced back in style. A few years later Astle held the Test record of registering the fastest double century in term of balls faced. On March 16th, 2002, the Kiwi great completed a double century off only 153 Balls against England at Christchurch. He was finally dismissed after scoring 222 runs. This was also his highest Test score.
