Novak Djokovic successfully passed Marin Cilic's challenge in the quarterfinal clash of Paris Masters. After conceding the opening set, Djokovic held his composure and sprung past the opposition to eventually emerge on top 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. Djokovic will now gear up to face Roger Federer in the semifinals. His current form, and dominance over Federer since 2011, holds him in good stead ahead of the faceoff.
Djokovic faced a setback in the opening set of his quarterfinal clash. Cilic started off positively and held onto the momentum to take the first set with some ease. Djokovic, however, showed his experience and class to move on from the first set and storm back into contest immediately. The penultimate set saw Djokovic's dominance, and once he claimed his touch, it was no looking back for him. The same script ensued in the final set.
Talking about match statistics, Cilic was ahead by 8-5 margin. Djokovic led Cilic by a whisker in first serve percentage. They were at par in win percent on first serve whereas Djokovic was ahead in win percent on second serve with some distance. Djokovic led Cilic in receiving points (34-29), points won (90-78), games won (16-11), service points won (56-49) and service games won (12-9).
